Without getting too politically deep, my family is deathly afraid of me leaving the U.S. due to all the issues ongoing at the border and with other countries.
I am a U.S. citizen (born and raised) and I dont have anything that should cause me problems getting in and out the country.

I am heavily considering going to Tijuana Mexico (I've never crossed into Mexico before) for oral surgery (bonegraft and implants) mainly due to the costs being significantly less than they are in the U.S.

Should I have anything to worry about? Also any other recommendations?

I dont live in California btw. I would have to cross through San Diego if I'm not mistaken however.

You should be more concerned about which oral surgeon to choose instead of fearing Mexico.

Hotel Ticuan is a luxury hotel which caters to medical tourists. You will be safe and comfortable there.

Good Luck.

I don't know how it is in the towns on the border with CA. You should do some research, OP. But south of NM, the dental clinics run by North Americans provide shuttle service back and forth across the border. Their customers don't have to cross the border on their own. The clinics handle transportation and any relevant paperwork.

What he stated above.

I go across the border all the time to see my dentist, and have never had any problems.

Thanks for the information

The surgeon is Dr. Marco Tulio sponsored by Dayo Dental. Anyone have any insight on them?

No. I use Odontología Integral de México, and the owner of the practice is an oral surgeon.

The dentist is located in Downtown (Zona Centro) according to the website at a place called Plaza Centinela, it should be fairly easy to get there using an Uber and will take no more than 10 mins to get there. I recommend Uber versus Taxi because you can make the arrangements digitally with the Uber for pick up, drop off and price and not even need to speak to the driver, they will know exactly where to go. Where as taxis require directions and negotiating and this can be intimidating for someone that doesn't speak the language. Uber is perfectly safe in TJ and uses the same app as Uber in SD.

I've had root canals performed and the work was very good. Look up reviews on Google for your specific doctor/clinic.

Should you be worried? No, not about being in Tijuana. Should you be worried about the clinic/procedure....? The risk with having medical work done in Tijuana is that is goes wrong with the procedure, you won't be able to sue. Remember, these oral surgeons want you to come back and recommend them to your friends, so they will do their best. But its up to you to research them thoroughly.

Maybe I'll take an Uber the next time I go to the dentist. I've always taken a taxi, and give the driver a business card from the dentist's office with the address on it, and I always get right there.
