I'd never heard of Crack Shack until it was mentioned in these forums maybe a year ago. I looked at the menu and the Mexican Poutine for $10 doesn't sound bad, have you ever tried it?

Nope. You've got it backwards.

When overhead costs go up, prices have to rise to cover the increase.

There aren't any options for businesses to get around the increase when it's forced on them by the govt..

They've been that price for at least 10 years...

I used to go about 5 years ago and they were something like $9. We used to buy whole cakes now and then for special occasions. They were $52 back then. Now the same cake is $80.

I can’t imagine paying that much for cake. I guess to each their own.

I have had it, and it's really good! I've also had a take on seafood poutine at Supernatural Sandwiches right across the street. They do it for Happy Hour, it's only like $7, and it's amazing. The fries are smothered in a ladle of scallop chowder, bacon, green onions, cheese curds (I think they were curds), and it was delicious. I don't eat some of those things anymore, but it really was darn good!

I have to concur with Axxlrod on this one -- I know restaurateurs, and their profit margins are so slim that even at high prices, they're barely making it. People seem to think they rake it in, but the only real profit margin is on alcohol. The food and service are pretty much breakeven.

Tough business, and anything of quality and independently owned is going to have high prices.

I believe that is a side dish there-I'm almost sure I have.

bonchon on convoy will give you 8 chicken strips for $13, with a side of diced radish. but i must warn you - once you try their spicy, it will be very hard to eat regular fried chicken ever again.

I looked at Yelp pics of the menu and the desserts were 12.95 in 2016 and 11.95 in 2014.

I don't remember the last time I paid under $10 for a slice of cake at Extraordinary Desserts, especially with tax and tip.
