Hi,
Is there anyone that does the commute from National City to Del Mar/ La Jolla area? I am starting a new job and came across a real nice place for a very good rent in National City. I am getting mixed messages about the commute. Some say with traffic it will be over 45 minutes, some say no because the traffic in the morning dies down after downtown San Diego and the traffic will be only up to down town exits. Any thing under 25 minutes seems reasonable for me to stay close to downtown and enjoy this apartment. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Also, if you have any suggestions on newer apartment complexes close to downtown/gas lamp with the rent under $1200.00 please let me know. Thanks,

Rent it. It will be 25 minutes no traffic, but 35 min or so with. You are reverse the bad traffic. Little Italy to La Jolla is actually less than 20 min without traffic and 25 min with average traffic. Congested areas during pm rush hour are Pacific Beach and 52 exits, and south of airport it seems, but not horrible. No real jams during am rush. This is all on the 5.
Normal driving speeds.

I agree.About 35,40 mins if there is traffic. It's good living down here commute wise.We do have the inbound/outbound to traffic like everywhere else in the county but the freeway speeds are a little higher than anywhere else in the county. It's never like 5 MPH like coming down from Escon along the 15 in the morning or 14 at Encinatas Blvd on the weekends.More like 20-45 most of the way. There are spots where it is under 5 MPH but it does not last long.

Smile Thank you for your responses!!

This is so helpful. I am doing 25-35 minutes now in Milwaukee, WI. I think for the price break I am getting on the apartment, it is really worth it. Thanks.
