It;s like 5x as expensive if you're out of state or international, out of staters wont pay and will go somewhere else, but international will.

I’m aware of out of state tuition, but the previous poster said international students pay more than out of state. Students pay out of state tuition all the time, don’t know why that would change?

In 2015, the country's public universities gleaned more than $9 billion in tuition and fees from foreign students, according to SelfScore's analysis. That's about 28% of annual tuition revenue coming from foreign students, who make up an average of just 12% of the student population.

I’m not disputing the financial impact of foreign students, nor am I advocating not allowing them to attend. All I said is they don’t pay more than American students from 49 other states, and I’ve yet to see anything that says they pay substantially more?

It depends on the state or university. I don't think you can just say "if we don't take international students, those seats will be taken by out-of-state students". Birth rates are dwindling in the United States; there is expected to be a severe drop in college attendance from American-born students quite soon.

Good news for kids in elementary school right now - - students should be able to get into more prestigious schools if foreign students stop coming. Unfortunately, many schools may not exist if they don't come.

China is our enemy. I don't get why we would educate their students at our universities.

My opinion.

And are you saying that homegrown American's money is no good? Hogwash. Maybe my white
American kids with slightly less than a 4.0 GPA's can actually get accepted into a school like UCLA if they wanted to go there.

Agreed. I don't care if they're paying 1000x what American kids would pay. china needs to be punished big time...and forever. No business. No travel back and forth (including connecting flights) for anyone, including US citizens going over there for business or um...pleasure. Time to make lemonade out of these big stinking rotting lemons that china laid on us and the entire world. #madeinAMERICA

Yeah I don't think international students pay higher tuitions. I think in UC and CSU its just 2 rates, in-state vs. out of state. The point being though, I think is that the international students as a group pay far more into the system than US residents from out-of-state, and as a result essentially edge out the US students who may otherwise be eligible but cant afford the tuition.
