Sort of related, a couple years ago the
UT did a small piece on properties within the county that sold for under $100k. None of them looked like ranches where you'd be raising cows or growing mangoes (can you even grow mangoes in SD?), but it was interesting nonetheless.

Pretty much seeing Hawaii is the only place in the US that’s in the tropics. And while rare, they still do have tornadoes.
