By pollution, do you mean air pollution? And by air pollution do you mean smog, or dust? Or do you mean water pollution? Trash pollution? Noise pollution? Smell pollution?

If you find a place away from pollution what kind of amenities do you expect?

You could pay anything from $1000 to $3000 a month depending on what you want. If you are prepared to go small and dumpy, you might even find some things in the $750 - 900 range.

I am retired and have a small pension. Would like to be near the water. All pollution? I know good luck right? Mainly Air is what I am referring to. The most I could afford to be safe would be 1-1.5K month.

Sorry. Near the water on that sort of budget is not happening in San Diego.

If you look enough you'll find something in that range in somewhat decent areas.

One of my co-workers lives in Oceanside not on the coast but somewhat near, and pays like $1000 per month for a nice and spacy one bedroom apartment. He tells me it's pretty safe.

Oceanside huh...nice thanks for the tip. I guess I would have to drive up and down the coast a bit to figure out where pollution is and is not. I lived in Hollywood in the 80s and the air was literally brown. More recently, I rented a Tesla to test it out. Just going from the airport (choke) to Long Beach (choke) was somewhat depressing. I have not been south of Long Beach down to SD extensively but when I have alot of it seemed nice.

It's a long shot, but you might (after this pandemic is dealt with) consider living in Baja California.

Got to love someone creating air pollution to determine whether they can deal with the air pollution.

You should research air pollution reports. I think that would be more helpful than doing these trips. You might just be visiting on a particularly good or bad day. Won't mean anything.
