I guess SDSU wants to make a profit.

Just goes to show how outta touch academia is.
What exactly would one do with stadium seats in a house? Maybe a bass boat

Good question. I wouldn't have them in my backyard either.

However, schools, churches, little league fields could certainly use them.

Maybe even an outdoor theater, like MoonLight in Vista, or Grape Day Park in Escondido, or spectator facilities at Fox Raceway, just to name a few.

Indeed. Never had time for Aztec football when I was earning my undergraduate degree from San Diego State. I was studying and raising a family. What truly amazes me is that the first-century Romans could build stadiums, some of which are still in use today, almost 2,000 years later, (i.e., The Arena in Verona), and we can't build a stadium that lasts barely 50 years before we have to tear it down.

Good point and also impressive raising a family as an undergrad

In and around what year did you graduate?
I attended a semester in the early 90’s “Marshall Faulk Years” and Aztec football was huge. 50k plus every Aztec home game until at least early 2000’s
I was at this Game in High School on a recruiting Invite. One of the Top 5 College football Fights

I have story to tell about this game. I was part of one of the Biggest Student Brawls in SDSU History right after this fight.

Yup, the stadium is as good as gone too. It's like they were never here. Oh well.

We chanted "GO CHARGERS!" for 50+ years. Well, they went.

Luckily, most of the Charger fans have become "ABC fans."
Anyone
But
Chargers

Not even close. 50k games were few and far between and extremely rare if not never after Faulk's last year in 1993.

Big crowds (one per season) started up again when the Sky Show became an Aztec game thing when the Padres moved in 2004.

It’s about the amenities. Current structures are largely disposable. Wait until they have to take down a high rise one of these days. They aren’t just big blocks of rock. It’s concrete and metal that doesn’t last forever. And...no one wants to tour modern ruins.
