It's not local or from San Diego, but Sidecar has some pretty good donuts. It's generally overpriced and not worth it, but there are 2-3 for which I don't mind splurging.

The lady who owns this small donut shop makes an apple-filled bear claw to die for. But you need to get there in the AM. This shop is not far from USD.

I have a sweet tooth … I indulge with dates, figs, raisins, little bit of maple syrup mixed into the yogurt … but yeah, every so often a scone finds its way into my van … but donuts
