I actually do, thanks for the suggestion!

Problem is your goals are mutually exclusive. It would help if you prioritized them, put in a budget range, and then identified what kind of housing, schools, and walkability you would be willing to settle for. Unless you have millions, you are going to be making compromises. We need to understand which compromises you're most willing to make.

Appreciate your correcting me on your being a female and number of children. You might want to look into Poway, North County inland a bit, but family oriented and good schools. Although it does get hot out there.

That area is technically San Diego but doesn’t feel like San Diego. Feels more like Temecula lite.

See where the jobs are and look for what you can afford nearby. I’m guessing along the 5 or RB area will have jobs for you.

I wanted to be closer to DT SD but my job was in Scripps Ranch so I picked RB for cost and commute wise. Good thing about SD is traffic isn’t horrible on the weekends like it is in Chicago.

Great info, I’m also looking at San Marcos and Carlsbad. What do you think?

If the majority of responses are an example of the type of people living in the area, I think I'd live somewhere else. She came here looking for facts not snarky "advice for personal living." What a pile of D-bags!

I love Carlsbad. It's going to be more expensive than San Marcos. You ideal situation might be to rent a house with another single parent.

I'm usually quite blunt in answering these type of posts.

I'm just going to keep quiet on this one and wish OP good luck.

There's an electrician that is leaving for Seattle soon. So his place might be available soon.

(Since he's an electrician, there's a good chance that the wall switches work, too!)
