Since I'm not gay, I'm probably treading on thin ice with any comment I make. However, I would guess that Julian CA is not 'gay friendly'. My guess is the result of my working with many Julian locals on social events in past years.

However, I did find this link. This event is held in Julian every year. Gay Men's Spiritual Retreat

Also not gay, so take this with a grain of salt.. And I have no evidence to prove this. My hunch because Julian is east is that it's less gay friendly that San Diego proper, but probably MORE gay friendly than many rural areas outside of California.

Also, if you are single, I doubt there's a lot of prospects there.

San Diego is gay-indifferent for the most part. Rural, urban, the whole county.

I’ve rarely found Julian to be overtly friendly to just about anybody when we’ve gone up there over the years - I guess it comes with the territory being a small tourist town constantly “invaded” by the hoards of “flatlanders”.

Like anywhere, they will gladly take your money. It's still pretty conservative, not exactly a hotbed of gay for sure. People confuse tolerance with accepting. These are nowhere close to one another.

On July 4th, my wife and I will be in Julian's annual parade. We have a second parade in Scripps Ranch. When the sun goes down, we will watch the July 4th fireworks from the flight deck of the USS Midway. It's going to be a long day.

When I ride up to Julian, I go to “Heroes” restaurant. It’s quite scrumptious.
