There was really no merit,” Marengo said. “There was no proof the fireworks which happen one day a year on July Fourth and it’s a 25-minute show. It had never caused any harm.”

Lots of people on NextDoor have been complaining about the fireworks that are shot off after events are over. They claim that their dogs go ballistic over them, and want them replaced with laser light shows, which I doubt will happen.

Yeah, the professionals will keep it safe.

It's the jackasses after the show who are the problem.

Years ago some of them ended up burning down a house near my neighborhood in Hawaii when some fireworks landed on its roof.

Right, but then deal with the jackasses rather than wholesale punish the rest of us. The whole point of having professionally done fireworks shows is to keep people from conducting their own with illegal ones instead.

The reason for cancelling the one at La Jolla Shores is beyond absurd.

Yup. Those fireworks will be out before their debris lands in the ocean.

A few years ago the people operating the fireworks show screwed up and fired all at once. Still, it was safe. It was just a non-show.

Its just another example how this group is completely out of control. While being all about control. There is really no real merit for all those ”stick” methods they are trying to impose on the normal people and brainwash the politicians with these days. When would they learn one can't legislate your way towards utopia. You will only create a dystopia this way.

Sierra Club lost creditability with me when they attempted to plant a protected species on land that was to become Legoland in Carlsbad. They were caught by security with endangered species in cages, to be released on the property....

Not like they don't have an agenda...

Does the Sierra Club have a campaign against the daily damaging SeaWorld fireworks, And Or against the non-damaging biannual works (4th, New Years)?

Sierra Club pushes so much agenda around the world and hypotonise council members, senators, and legislator all those BS legislation. Its becoming harder and harder to vote with ones feet as they are getting those in power all over the planet to submit to turning their agenda into ordinances or laws in their area.

I.e Vehicle emissions are already cleaner and nearly emissions free than its ever been in the history of engines due to both tougher emissions control standards and newer engine efficiency technologies. Not to mention that many vehicles are already alternative fueled. Gone are cars, buses, trucks that emit black smoke and fill a neighborhood with fumes in minutes. However these eco lobbyists are not happy, now they condemn and try to legislate to make it an offense to stay warm(defrost) or cool on a extreme weather day in a modern Partial Zero emissions vehicle or even a hybrid(like a Prius). It seems they would always find something to target. Truck drivers who needs plenty of rest between drives are caught between a rock and a hard place when they need to operate the engine to stay warm or cool in order to rest and pretrip the vehicle. I am beginning to think total bans on fireworks in coastal non fire danger zones are likely result of Sierra Club lobbying.
