I did a 30 mile loop today pretty much all towards the beach. Friars is shut down so had to bypass to the other side bike path and there are easily pods of tents every 1/8 mile about 20 in each group. I looped up through OB into downtown, back into PB and down Friars again. I have never seen so many people homeless here in all my years. It was actually unreal. We rode over by the zoo last week and that canyon should be renamed homeless canyon.

What is our Mayor going to do about this?

They used to try and hide it from tourists but not anymore. It's gotten that bad.

This encampment was discovered, but is now gone. Someone flew his drone over it to see how big it was.

The homeless should ditch their ID’s and claim to be illegal. They’ll get free food, housing, healthcare and a bus ticket to anywhere they’d like to go. Unfortunately most are American citizens and veterans so they don’t matter to those who are in the government and are in charge. They’ll be moved to the front of the line if they’re not vaccinated for Covid.

Comparably speaking downtown is looking much better than LA and SF because our city doesn't allow all day sidewalk camping like those cities do. Homeless have to pack up each morning and move along. Our homeless population is huge, we just do a better job of "hiding" it from our tourists.

Homelessness is America is getting really bad, I am in San Antonio this month and I don't remember this Texas city having so many vagrants in recent years either as it does now.

I never knew what normal rent was until I started traveling. How the heck do people afford these rents is beyond me. Most people I know cannot do it.

You can have a full-time job and still be homeless. People do it all the time. Most people get 20 minutes to eat lunch which is an insult at best.

Rent, Food, Transport, Utilities. ... most people can't do it. Let's not forget education. You are bound to have people left behind....MANY PEOPLE left behind.

Yes it's gotten worse. I imagine it will get even worse once the rent forbearance ends.

Wait until the new trolley line opens up, they'll all be moving to North County.
