Hello

We are moving to the Calavera Hills area in September. We have a 8yr old son who will be going to school and while I work, my wife will have a 1yr old to look after.

I'm wondering does anyone know of any groups in the area where new mums can meet with others to mix and mingle and let the kids play together

We would love to post on Nextdoor for the area but as we live up in the Bay area, that option is unavailable to us

Thank you

If you already have an address here, you can use it to post on NextDoor, people do it all the time to get the information that they're looking for.

OP~ Your 8 YO should find things to do at Calavera Park. Carlsbad Youth Baseball (CYB) is quite active.

As far as the 1 YO goes, I'd say check into meetup for activities.

Where abouts is your employment? (I might be able to help with your commute strategy, as I'm somewhat familiar with the area. (Used to ride dirtbikes at Lake Calavera, in the 1970's....))

EDIT (again) These classes fill up FAST. You might sign up a few months before your arrival. Just FYI.

Let us know if you need recommendations for restaurants or other things. (Museums or other.)

Thanks for the reply

My 8yr old will be joining the NCA swim team, he has already had his try out so we don't have to worry about him

Really just trying to find some groups for my wife to either join in or somewhere where she can drop our 1yr old off to help her socialist and be with other screaming children so my wife can have some time to herself or seek work as she is a qualified Pilates instructor

So you're not really looking for a parent/toddler group, you're looking for day care without wanting to pay for it? Good luck with that!

LOL!

Yup, just checked prices for care around here:

0-24 mos = $1214 per month

24mos to whatever= $1000 per month

They don't start getting expensive until they are teenagers....
