I think that was the specific issue that challenged the tax. If this is a county tax, then all miles traveled outside of the county are not applicable, but there is no way to determine which miles where driven in/out of the county.

On my usual drive to Utah I'd literally be getting taxed 4 or 5 times more than I should under that proposal.

Have a car that's before MY 2006. (Altho, some high end cars had GPS prior to MY 2006.)

Everything after 2006 has the technology. (Except some motorcycles.) Not ALL of 'em, but some of them.

My big ol oil burner F350 is a vintage 2001. Looks like I'll be glad I am keeping it.

2006 is a long time ago, good luck finding one.

if F-150 lightning can replace a ton of light duty trucks, there is no reason to buy gas anymore, those skateboard platform vehicles are cheaper to produce and have tons of towing capability for their weight and size. I think large displacement engines for trucks will always have their niche but few truly need it, for a lot of pickup use the electric vehicles are going to just be better, cheaper, simpler and less expensive to own.

I think a lot of folks are also learning that they can buy an Elantra or a Corolla and it will run 200k miles. I think for a while the perception was, it was alway better to get a new car, bit now new cars are complicated and expensive, and also super reliable if well maintained. Now that most smaller vehicles have turbo-4 there is a lot more fuel economy on the market than just EVs
