I took an uber a few weeks ago from Mission Beach to my house in RSF, and it was $120. One way.

You could have bought a used E bike and been there about the same time

Thanks so much for the responses. Very helpful! It sounds like it won't be very economical to use Uber. I might have to get to know the trolley and buses better and see if I can minimize the number of days we need a car.

You’ll waste too much of your vacation on the bus and trolley. A six year old is gonna get very impatient, but at least they’ll be entertained by the crazies on them.

Uber/Lyft is just a nightmare these days Alas its also very hard to find a cab as their competition was stifed hard by rideshare and the pandemic driven the final nail to the coffin(cab stands in the airport are often empty these days, they used to be filled with ignored idling cabs as people all walk to Uber/Lyft). I tried ordering Uber/Lyft from SAN and all rides costs $120 as opposed to $65 pre pandemic same distance ride no traffic. And wait times can be 40 or more minutes. No guarantee that he/she won't cancel just because don't like the destination out of the way. In addition Uber don't know about Lyft has a no front seat policy they mention from the CDC so a family of four would officially need to take two Ubers or bribe the driver. An impossibility when these days when its hard and expensive enough to even find one.
