I'm a SoCal native who has a been living in Montana for a year now, and I can't wait to go home! San Diego is a great place to live!

Salt Lake City? Nope. Denver? Think again. These are shots of our local mountains that I took this morning on my way to work from the 15 Freeway. Beautiful!

Only in the winter after the rains... in summer, you can barely see em' through the haze.

I knew SD had mountains, but I didn't realize they are tall enough snow. I mean, I've seen pics with snow on them, but is it normal in SD like it is in LA? How tall are they?

^^^Perhaps the moderator can delete the 2 previous posts? They look like some sort of advertisments.

Our mountains aren't as tall as the mountains around LA. I think Cuyamaca Peak is about 6,500 feet. We also get snow every winter, but it doesn't hang around for too long because never stays cold for a long time up there.

This most recent storm dropped the snow levels to 2,000 feet, which doesn't happen very often. You can bet that half of SD will be driving to the mountains this weekend to make snowmen and snow angels. From our easternmost suburb (El Cajon), you are less than 15 minutes from touching the white stuff.

^^There aren't any resorts in SD County. Like you LA folks, we make day trips to Big Bear to ski. As I recall, it takes about 2.5 hours to get to Mountain High Ski Resort.

From a San Diego native for 45 years - just moved to Lake Havasu from El Cajon, and I could never move back to San Diego even if I could afford it. Way too crowded, to expensive and the cost of living sucks... I sure miss the days when you could find a parking spot at the beach and a place for your towel on the sand. You could even walk around without dodging people on beach. The good old San Diego days are gone forever. But I will remember the good times. I wish I could share them with you!!! (And thanks for the wonderful pictures - it is a BEAUTIFUL city, just way to crowded anymore!)
