Anyone know anything about this area?

Any help you can give would be wonderful, we are thinking of moving there in March, and need all the input you can give.
Good area, bad? Crime?

It's a suburban area with a mix of military housing and older tract housing. Non-military population is primarily latino and filipino. The military population brings in a smaller but mixed ethnic and racial group.

It is considered a high crime area, in particular gang crime, but there are decent neighborhoods there as well. It is adjacent to National City and Bay Terraces which have bad reputations as high crime areas.

Why are you considering moving there in particular? It's not a popular place for newcomers (unless you are going into military housing)

That is the reason we are moving there is to move into military housing.

I do have some others that I can look into as well. Let me post them and see if you know anything of those areas, if you would.

Linda Vista area
Scripps Ranch area

Linda Vista is nicer than PH but not by much

Murphy Canyon? Do they still have housing in Point Loma?

Is the high crime you speak of rampant throughout the Paradise Hills neighborhood proper, or primarily more on the borders of Bay Terraces & National City ?

I lived in Scripps Ranch, and I can't emphasize more enough about how safe and nice it is. The neighbors are friendly, family-oriented, kids playing on the streets, I mean on the streets. It's a great watch of seeing kids playing with other kids in the neigbhorhood. I once saw a couple of kids selling lemonade on the sidewalks. The sweetest thing ever. My neighbors' kids use our driveway as a playground by drawing hopscotches with chalks. The kids never get in our way though. We have two parks in our immediate neighborhood, and the Scripps Ranch is situated on top of the hills with great view of SD.
