It's funny. I'm half Hispanic and have friends that are full Hispanic. They eat at Taco Bell on occasion. I've always thought that was kind of funny since Taco Bell is "white people" mexican food.

I like Romesco. My wife really likes it. We live close by so we go occasionally. It is a bit fancy foodie type of stuff for me, but it is good. I am really just into taco shop stuff.

I like Alfonso's of La Jolla and El Callejon in Encinitas. Of course the Alberto's and Roberto's chains are good, too. Can't beat the fresh handmade flour tortillas from Old Town Mexican Cafe. Man, I'm hungry now!!

-Cheers.

I've been there and thought it was ok but thought $20 for pasta was a bit much even if it had shrimp in the pasta sauce. Honestly, there are a lot of better Mexican seafood places, which are a lot more generous with the sea food, out there especially if one is willing to go south of the border. Heck, more than half of their menu isn't even Mexican unless you consider baked salmon from Scotland with a baked potato on the side to be Mexican (for $30).

Oh man. Yeah, Shmoov turned me onto Romesco. Boy do they have GREAT food. I don't think most people would consider it a "Mexican" place in the terms that many typically associate with "Mexican food" as this place is so much more than that. They have a HUGE menu. A few weeks ago Shmoov, sdurbanite and our spouses went there and it was amazingly good food.

I've been back with the family since then we loved it so much. A bit of a drive for us but it was definitely worth it! Their tacos are very good there and only a fraction of their menu is online. Great stuff. I'd compare it more to a Spanish style tapas type of place vs. just Mexican.

Anyone have opinions on El Patio in Chula Vista? Menu online seems decent.

I just went to my Niece Graduation diner on Tuesday night and fell in love with this place.
Barrio Star "Mexican soul food"
The food was good and the Beer/Margarita's was cold. It was taco Tuesday and I ate like a pig
Go check this place out.
