Hello,

How would you compare these two places in regard to climate, ppl, etc...if you had to choose a place in CA with comparable climate to that of SD, what place would it be? How about Monterey, San Jose, Sacramento? Am just wondering how they all are different?

Santa Barbara is small relative to SD, it is probably more like a college town with UCSB.

Apples and oranges, really. SB is smaller and far more expensive than SD. SB is considered more exclusive. The climates are not the same. SB is colder and and doesn't have as much sunshine as SD.

Just moved from SD back to FL. SB is alot smaller and with less conveniences. Pro and con about both places. Depends on your $$$$$$$$$. Work and live in SD, retire rich in SB.

SB has a similar climate to SD except it is a little cooler, more overcast, and it rains more overall. SD is warmer and the ocean is warmer down here too, at least in summer.

San Jose is colder and it rains a lot more in winter and it's hotter during the day in summer but colder at night in summer.

Monterey is like SF, it's cooler than both SB and SD. Rains more in winter and is more foggy. It's usually in the 50's and 60's much of the year and some 70's but overall a cool marine climate I would say.

Sacramento is the most extreme out of all of them. Colder and can get foggy in winter plus it rains more than SD. And gets much, much hotter in summer.

Santa Barbara has the most similar climate to San Diego. Monterey and San Jose will be a bit colder, Monterey foggy. Santa Barbara, Monterey and San Diego are "coastal climates," whereas San Jose is less so. (Haven't spent much time in Sacramento so am leaving that off my list.) Job opportunities will be VERY different between those places.
