Howdy Everyone!

I am spending hours upon hours, looking up Universities (also, a solid Major) to transfer to. I would like some help! I live in San Diego, but it doesn't look like that has a lot of options for me, as far as what I would like to get into. I would like others opinions, experiences, and pics, if you have them!

Yes, I have spoken with various career counselors, coaches, etc. Ultimately, there is really nowhere near here to study, so I have accepted that I will have to leave for a while, to pursue my dream. I have been suggested places like Humboldt State, Northern Arizona University, etc. These are places of interest to me, I just want to know what all is out there.

I am going to work with wildlife/animals also while working with trees/outdoors. I am really into mountains, pines, rivers and rocks. Places I love are Sedona/Flagstaff Az, No. Cal, Colorado, New Mexico, Oregon, and Wa. state.
I am open to other places in the West. I prefer a place that has perhaps a decent/easy way to get in and out of town easily, because my husband and family will be here the two years I am gone.

Majors I am interested in are anything to do with outdoors. Forestry, Environmental Ed., Wildlife Bio, Outdoor Rec., etc...

Thank you for your help, please let me know if you have any ideas!

-Annie

How about Chico State, they have a B.S. in Recreation Administration (Parks & Natural Resources Management): Environmental Interpretation/Education Pattern. Here is their graduation plan: http://tinyurl.com/423ey9 (broken link)

What led you to rule it out initially?

I haven't ruled it out, or its major, but the more I have delved into this, I realize I am strongly interested in forestry, too. The badge of honor for any Forestry college in the U.S., is the Society of American Foresters. SAF, have specifically approved programs at a few schools in most states. In Ca, they recommend Humboldt, Berkeley, or Cal Poly SLO.

I love the scenery around SLO...just gorgeous. Otherwise, Im a Berkeley Alum who is totally partial to Cal so to me you can never go wrong with the U. of California(LOL..Go Bears!)

University of Colorado, Boulder is the ONLY school in Colorado you should consider. You will be around a very smart population and a fun college scene if you are 21-23. There is no one between 24-44 who lives there. The college students party a lot and are stupid but it is a good school if you want it to be.

Avoid anything in Arizona or New Mexico. Davis, CA is boring as hell too. Stay where there is culture and people. Don't get stuck in the sheltered ends of the earth... your mind and spirit will not develop correctly. You need to be social at a young age.

UCLA would be my #1 pick if I could afford the grades & price.
