There's the post about how you know you're from San Diego. How about one for you're not from San Diego? I'll start it off:

- You can't speak a word of Spanish
- You can't pronounce La Jolla, El Cajon, or Jamacha correctly
- You don't know what carne asada is
- You allow the car in the next lane with its turning signal on to merge in front of you on the freeway
- You drive 65 m.p.h. on the freeway
- You lock your doors even if you're away for only a few minutes, because where you're from something can and will happen in that amount of time
- You wave and say "hi" to random people you don't know
- You think San Diego is a huge metropolis or a podunk town, depending on where you're from in comparison

Hahahaha! This happened to me when I first moved here:

You know you're not from San Diego when you suggest that someone wearing flip flops in January, who is complaining that he's cold, might try wearing some shoes that cover his toes. He looked at me like I had suggested he quick drink a quart of motor oil. Flip flops all year, folks!

You sunbathe at La Jolla cove during the winter.
You wear tank tops and shorts to Sea World in the summer then freeze when night falls (we know to pack hoodies :0)

Someone has to explain to you in hushed tones, where the "Four Corners of Death" are located, and what exactly that means.

You see your first Grunion Run.

You fail to understand why shorts and Uggs are perfectly appropriate attire for January.

You don't get chilled when the temp falls to 69 degrees.

You stop on red at every right turn you make.

You appear confused when you can stock up for the party at an AM/PM. Where's the state liquor store?

U think everyone likes the Seals at the Children's pool.
U think everyone surfs.
U don't know that San Diego County has a BUNCH of cowboys.

A friend from San Diego told me when he lived here he was from PQ but didn't mention the "rancho" part of it and just said "Penasquitos." I always had to ask him "where part are you from? Encinitas? Escondido? Penasquit...aaaah I can't pronounce this." In Norcal I grew up not having to pronounce Spanish words correctly, hence "Mount Dy-ablow" and "San Ruh-Fell."

I took me about 5 years before I realized how to pronounce "Jamacha", haha.

some others:

-you don't know what a CA burrito is
-you don't know what a "fast lane" is or can't comprehend that sign that says "slower traffic keep right"
- you think the ocean is warm enough to swim in any time of the year
- you don't think 60 degrees is "cold" and 85 degrees is "hot"
- you think today's weather is "really nice" or "gorgeous " when it's just a typical SD day
