Hi Everyone,

If you know the best place for a romantic dinner -- just the two of you -- will you share? And let me know what you love about it?

Thanks!!

Alicia

I love the ocean. If you do too, then somewhere like Jake's Del Mar, the Marine Room in La Jolla, the places on restaurant row in Cardiff (Beach House, Chart House, Charlie's) are tops. At sunset, you can sit inside or out on the patio, have a great meal and have the waves crashing right next to you. It's hard to beat. The Sky Room at La Valencia in La Jolla is amazing. It's a small room and you feel really special to be eating there. So is the fine dining restaurant at the Hotel del Coronado (used to be Prince of Whales Room, has new name now. 1500 Ocean, maybe?) Fine dining in a historic, romantic resort hotel. Mille Fleurs in Rancho Santa Fe is great, you can eat then stroll through the village and window shop. There are a lot of romantic restaurants in San Diego, so you sort of have your choice, depending on what you and your special person like. Good luck finding a place!!

What does everyone think of George's California Modern for a romantic dinner? It's in La Jolla on the ocean. Do locals like it? I'm trying to avoid tourist traps.

Thanks!!

A.

We're going to try the Oceanair next week. Got a recommendation from someone who lives in Florida and always goes every time she visits. It's a "chain" but the menu looks fabulous.

I love picnics on sunset cliffs, but since you probably want a restaurant, George's at the Cove in La Jolla. I would eat around sunset, and outside on the roof.

Georges can get a little breezy but it is a good place for dinner. Personally I like to do drinks & appetizer at George's and watch the sunset.
