Hello Again!

I currently live in Houston, TX...actually have lived here all of my life. For a very long time I have wanted to live in San Diego. I am single with no children or dependants. My question: Is a salary of 67,600 per year enough to live comfortably on if renting not buying? After 9 months the salary will go up to 74,360 per year. I understand the state income tax is 9.3%. Can anyone offer any feedback? My fear is getting out there and scraping to get by.

You'll be just fine on that salary especially since you're single with no one to support but yourself.

Your effective state income tax will not be 9.3%, it's a tiered system and the highest rate doesn't start for the first 43k or something like that...plus you can deduct stuff sometimes and lower your taxable income. My guess is your effective state income tax will be around 5%.

Yes... You could with no problem.
I would jump at the chance to live in sd again. We had to move back to the midwest to help with parents issues.
You only go around once in this lifetime...i would if i were you. You'll love living there. There is no other place that we would rather be living, than san diego.

It's your chance of a lifetime.
Good luck & great health on your adventure..we are soooooooo jealous... :-)

I'm moving to SD too!!!!

I guess we'll do fine. Chicsgo is a more expensive city so we will end up saving money (besides the money spent on heat )

When we lived in SD we never used the heat or AC. Coming from the midwest, SD heat wasn't an issue. SD has a dry/LOW humidity & Midwest a HIGH humidity...big difference.
