Hi- I saw your post to the girl moving from florida to sd, and wondered if you could help me too. I am planning on moving to San Diego sometime in late spring, early summer. I am 25 years old and finishing my BA in Sports Nutrition. I am also a massage therapist and will be taking my National Certification test soon so that I can also do massage in CA. I have done many many months of research on apartments, cost of getting plates for my car, license, companies, etc. I have a 6 month emergency fund ready just in case I need a cushion while I adjust. I am looking for any advice really. It looks easy on paper, but someone who is familiar with the area can give me the real stuff. Right now I bartend at an upscale wine and martini lounge, and have bartended in gentlemens clubs, and the local bars. I am an active licensed massage therapist, and have tons of retail and sales experience from Victorias Secret and Sephora. I managed a tanning salon for 2 years. I will probably have to try to find jobs of that sort at least at first. (Or at gyms, I have worked in and for large fitness and raquet clubs) (I am no stranger to working 3 jobs at a time if necessary, lol) I am trying to figure out which zip codes to avoid, and maybe the best options. I am active, love running, the beach, snowboarding, etc. I have been to SD many times, but still don't really know any more than most tourists. I will be moving by myself and do not want to spend more than $1000 a month on rent. I am planning on renting a studio or 1 bed apartment. Right now I live in Cleveland Ohio so I will probably only get out there one more time maybe two before I plan to move. I don't know whether or not to bring my car, or use other transportation, or look for areas that have everything in walking distance. I would love to be in a safe, easy to navigate area. I love San Diego for the great atmosphere, active lifestyles, great surroundings, and of course the weather. I am currently learning spanish too, as I have been told many times it will come in handy. So any info would be great. Thanks so much in advance.

So far, I am probably looking to rent at Bay Pointe, or Avalon, both on Ingraham in the pacific beach area, any thoughts??

These are the 2 apartment complexes that seem to be looking the best for me... BAY POINTE and AVALON, both located on Ingraham Street in the Pacific Beach, Clairmonte area. I have decided to take my car, so finding somewhere where I can still walk to parks and such would be great, but not necessary, and I just want to be somewhat close to an area that is easy to get downtown, and to other places where I might want to check things out.
