I'm going to be in town next week on business and have an 8 am flight out Thursday morning and am concerned about making it to the airport early enough to get checked in and all that.

What is traffic typically like at 5 - 5:30 am during the week and would 5 be early enough to leave Del Mar and make it to SAN by 6?

Thanks for any help or info!

Southbound on 5 from Del Mar at 5 PM should take you about 30-45 minutes.

At that time of day, there won't be traffic. Even later, most of the southbound morning commute traffic on I-5 is bunched up north of Del Mar. You should be full speed ahead. You could do it in 20 minutes, maybe 30 to be safe. good luck.

Oops .. 5AM... you are right. No traffic at that time.
