Yep, that's the old "sunshine discount" which people here so much about around here. So many people want to live the dream in San Diego that wages get bid down so that pay ends up being lower than the national average in most industries even though the cost of housing is so much higher (again because so many people want to live here the price of houses get bid up).

That's right, but with a regular work schedule, the OP can work in two nursing homes, one full time, one part-time or even another full time job to survive. The OP won't have a life outside of work, but will be living in San Diego.
