I keep reading how perfect the climate is there, but if I visit in the summer, will I be able to swim comfortably in the ocean?

Thanks!

I'd say yes also, but only if the beach you want to go to is open. I remember beaches being closed due to polluted waters a few years ago. Usually after it has rained some, you should stay out of the water. Other than that, go for it!!!

Ok, call me wimpy, but I find temps in the 66-68 degree range take some getting used to. That's what you'll get in June and July. However, in August through early September the water is in the 69-73 range.

You won't get hypothermia if that's what you're asking, haha. Don't expect the bathtub of the Caribbean, though.

It was usually too cold for me to stay in long. Almost all surfers use wet suits. If you are vacationing in San Diego you have to go for swim regardless. Like Sassberto said, "Millions do it". You can tell how cold the water is by the people standing with their arms lifted above the water. You don't see that as much in FL

As Kettlepot said above, it's not until June that you are able to swim in the ocean without a wetsuit, and the temp ranges he gave are pretty accurate.

Here's a sneak peek of what the beaches looks like in San Diego during the Summer. These were all taken last year, and "Look Ma, no wetsuits"!

Florida may have the warmer water temps, but San Diego has the better waves and much more beautiful coastline.

Just two more months, Everyone!!!
