You're going to have to pay several hundred dollars because those tickets sell out a year in advance.

So where are the good places to go downtown, to see the festivities, for someone who doesn't have any tickets?

Bascially everywhere from the CC to the marina.

There is all kinds of scwag that they hand out all along N Harbor Dr.

I heard on KPBS this morning that a gaming software company (Ubisoft) has rented out the Star of India and rigged it like a Pirate Ship for their upcoming Assasins Creed game (based around the time Pirates).

Yeah, just go down there. Its like a circus all along Harbor Drive and in the Gaslamp area. But no places to specifically go per se. Most of that stuff is in teh Convetion Center itself or neighboring Hotels that have special events set up.

Everything from new movie promotions to stuff you never heard of. Half the fun is people watching.

If you can take the trolley.

Comic-Con has actually outgrown the convention center so now they have satelite things set up all around downtown with some lectures/talks/interviews with authors taking place even in hotel lobbies/dinning rooms. We really do need to expand the convention center especially as the convention center has a 98% booking rate meaning it generates a direct cash profit for the city year in year out unlike sports stadiums which never actually generate a direct cash profit. We're not even talking about the dubious "knock on effects" which stadium supporters always resort to because the convention center turns a direct cash profit just counting rent fees paid directly to the city without even considering knock on effects of convention goers renting hotel rooms, buying food at restaurants, paying for cabs, etc...

In short, the convention center is a direct cash money maker and so is worth investing money in to expand while sports stadiums are direct cash money losers and thus do not deserve public funds.

Just walk around by the convention center, you'll see all the costumes, but you won't be able to get in anywhere.

I interviewed to work directly for the convention center for Comic-Con, but didn't get hired. They had two different positions open, of which they were hiring 100 people to work for the week, and got over 200 applicants for each position. I applied for both, and got nowhere.
