Where are the majority of the defense contractors in SD? I tried searching for individual company names on Google, but a lot of sites pop up and I'm looking for the main locations. My dh is in the defense industry and we're wondering which areas we could live without him having a long commute, were we to move there.

TIA!

They are all over the county but most are in the Kearny Mesa / Serra Mesa area, General Dynamics, Raytheon, Cubic are over there.

Lockheed Martin has at least one building in UTC, and there's a number of defense contractors in General Atomics complex off 5 & Genesee.

And what's the name of that big complex that everyone sees west of 5 and south of 8?

SPAWAR is a govt facility but it is mostly defense contractors that work on site out of the larger offices arond San Diego. There is also a cluster of defense contractor offices (Barnett Center) across the street.

General Atomics is in Poway, Rancho Bernardo, La Jolla, and Sabre Springs. It is a growing company and is currently looking for people. If you have a solid defense background send me your resume and I will forward it to directly to a hiring manager. If you get hired I get a nice bonus and GA gets a good employee. My email is dicemarquette witha a yahoo.com after the @ sign. I list the email this way to try and avoid spam.

What is the latest on General Atomics. They used to make you pay the dues with an initial start in Nevada. After a few trips to the "Stans" you had an opportunity to move to Rancho Bernardo. BS/MS in Aeronuatical Science with an A&P earned a starting maintenance position last time I looked. Has it changed?

SAIC is in San Diego and has around 76 jobs listed currently, the salaries are probably subpar though for the COL.
