Haven't really found a GREAT place.

I been to Carnitas Uruguapan and it was decent but a little on the dry side.

So far I like Super Cocina the best because they are the most moist and tender.

There is a little dive taco shop near me called Los Alazanes in Chula Vista near Southwestern College that surprisingly has a very good carnitas burrito.

Where are the best in town? Actually making your own really isn't that hard to do.

Here is a link
mmm-yoso!!!: Carnitas-another less expensive meal

I've never actually been to El Porvenir but I have heard really good things about their carnitas. I have ate at Super Cocina and they do just about everything excellent though they do everything in the southern Mexican style (think lots of stews and rich sauces) plus they vary what they offer each day so what you can buy there changes day to day depending on the chef's mood. Another good bet is Las Cuatro Milpas though they serve very minimalist home style Norteno food and their menu hasn't changed since the 1930's; though they do great on traditional dishes done excellently but if you're looking for flair or fancy decor then you won't find it there. Luckily the food really is that good.

Carnitas Uruapan is a chain originating in Mexico. I usually avoid chains because as they expand the food suffers and what was once excellent turns into something less when it is no longer the owner working as chef and instead is just some guy trying to make $8 an hour.

Depends which kind of carnitas you like. I prefer the michoacan style. They are cooked in chunks in a big pot full of lard. Sounds bad for you which it is, but the fat keeps the meat nice and tender and juicy.

I don't eat pork, so personally I'm not sure, but my in-laws seem to like the ones at Miguel's when they ask to get them extra-crispy.

How can anyone not like pork? Pork is proof god loves us and wants us to be happy. It's the most versatile meat out there.
