Well, yeah, but ...

To El Segundo? The commute would eat up all the "free" time in one's life!

I am in need to commute from Oceanside as well. I am currently driving my car and this is brutal! What possiblilities do I have to commute from Oceanside, CA (near Camp Pendleton) to El Segundo Green Link?? I understand that the commute would be 2-3 hours one way, but it would be better than using my car..

You can pick up the Metro Green Line in Norwalk. What this does is exchange frustrating time in traffic on the 405 between El Segundo and Long Beach, into time using a train. If you can work 6-230, then it would be best just driving in to ES. If you work closer to 7-8 to 330-430 then, since the 405 is horrible near ES, the train may be a better option.

There is also a Metrolink Station which has a station about 2.5 miles (east?) from the Green Line station in Norwalk. Conceivably, you could take two trains. There is a shuttle or plans for a shuttle to move people between these two train stations which are so close, but a little too far for walking.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Unknown+road&daddr=12700 +Imperial+Hwy,+Santa+Fe+Springs,+CA+90670+(Norwalk %2FSanta+Fe+Springs+Metrolink+Station+Platfor)&geo code=FYJ4BQId0d_1-A%3BCVqN6TzrNOxTFayIBQIdd4v2-CHRlC18ccc-sA&hl=en&mra=pe&mrcr=0&sll=33.915031,-118.082139&sspn=0.051854,0.077162&ie=UTF8&ll=33.91 4802,-118.08217&spn=0.051854,0.077162&t=h&z=14

The Norwalk Green Line station is near the far east end of the 105.

Finally, (and unbelievably) there is no tool (that I know of) that processes the schedules from these two train systems. You have to look at two tables and figure it out yourself.

I honestly wonder how all those companies in ES recruit people to work there. Nearby is either super expensive for something old and small OR it is a dangerous neighborhood. Farther out (north and south) and you are subjected to horrible traffic.

I find it puzzling that the Green Line was never extended to connect with Metrolink directly. If it were extended 2 miles east and 1 mile west, it could connect Metrolink with LAX, that would make a lot of sense and I'm sure that lots of people would find that convenient.

Yes, right now you ride a Norwalk city transit bus from the Metrolink station to the LA Metro Green Line station. It's a 15 minute bus ride; it's waiting there for you when the Metrolink train arrives.

Hey. I found what appears to be a great commute from Oceanside to Douglas St. (Green Link, El Segundo).
See below link...

What do you guys think? It's the best I could find.
Thanks for all your help!
