My trip from Rhode Island to San Diego was at the end of July. We did go a center route through Indy, St Louis, Oklahoma City, and then into New Mexico and Arizona. Each subsequent day was a further descent into hell . . . and we HAD air conditioning (although, in New Mexico, the room we had did not! )!

If you happen to go through Kansas during the day or the midwest for that matter you need it. In the middle of the day it will be a little over a 100 degrees
