Hi,

I am moving to san diego in less than 6weeks and I am having trouble finding housing that allows 2 large dogs that is affordable. I am looking in the area of downtown, old town, clairemont, oceanside, east village and pacific beach. I can only afford about $900 a month plus a one time pet deposit. Does anyone know of where I may find such a place???

The only place I can think of that might be in the price range is likely El Cajon, though some areas aren't the best. Maybe San Carlos or Rancho San Diego?

Definitely not the areas that you're looking. You might find something in North Park or City Heights, but some parts of City Heights aren't so good. What kind of dogs are they, and how large is large? Check Craigslist for dog friendly places.

one is an 87lb great dane mix and the other is a 60lb cattle dog mix. I have looked on craigslist and it seems everything in my price range is so far away from where i need to work which is close to the navy base on the san diego bay.

If you work in the bay, then you might consider looking in areas of Chula Vista (Otay Ranch, Eastlake).

Which Navy base are you going to be working at? That might help on here, too. The base housing office may also be able to help you.

What's the name of it, and I'll look on Craigslist for you. The name of it will really help. You may be looking in the totally wrong area, if you're going to be working near Oceanside, because it's about 40 miles away. Are you in the service? If so,the name and address of the base will be on your orders. Check with base housing, also, they should have a list of apartments in the area. There are several navy bases. There's Pt. Loma, 32nd Street, and Coronado, just to name a few.

Not quite clear where this is your are describing, but Oceanside and other nearby areas have lower housing costs. Vista/San Marcos/Escondido are main areas with lower prices (although you have to check out the areas).
