I'm planning on moving to SD in June and I've been researching renting costs (moving in with roommates, those who already have a place) for about the last month or so and it doesn't seem too bad. I'm looking at the $500-$600 range. The places that I'm finding are all over SD area- Chula Vista, Mira Mesa, La Mesa, downtown, Santee....Do you think they are mostly dumps or would it be reasonable to rent with others, each paying $500???

Thanks!!

A 2 bed 1 bath apartment for $1000 should be of reasonable quality, but that's a very broad generalization. Such an apartment probably won't be one of the new apartment towers with all of the amenities, but it shouldn't be a total dive either.

I consider more like 600 a piece to live in a decent place and not share a room.
