I work in Coronado everyday and it seems like at any given moment, 70 percent of the people out and about in Coronado (locals or tourist) are Women; especially women in the 25 and younger crowd. Also, why does every person who visits Coronado feel that they have to dress up like they are going to a red-carpet event or a fancy Manhattan theater? I personally wear whatever I want when I' am there; like today for instance, I wore a pair of flip-flops, faded lucky jeans, and a Hard Rock T-Shirt.

Anyway, I lived in Coronado for 3 years and have worked there for over 4 and I still fail to see what is so special about the place that would make so many women from the SD area and points North flock to it like a swarm of wasp. I mean the place is nothing like Monterey, La Jolla, Encinitas, or Santa Cruz. So what's the deal?

It's weird... I've never liked Coronado very much. Reminds me of New England - except not quite as scenic. I'll take Point Loma or La Jolla over it any day.

You should know by now that Coronado is as close to "Pleasantville" as it gets.

I like going over there every so often because it's quaint, has a nice view of the downtown skyline and is a scenic drive over the bridge, but I don't think I'd want to live there. It seems too separate from everything else, which is also probably the appeal. I certainly don't dress up to go over there, but it's a nice place to visit for the afternoon.

We go over there all the time. They have an amazing library with great stuff for kids. If I could live there I would never leave.

Because that's where the elite live. The elite dress up. The further one's income/neighborhood, you'll find that they dress better, more classy. That doesn't mean there's anything wrong with how you choose to dress, it's just that you find more people will be dressed up in better neigborhoods. Women who are more well-to-do, or are wanna be well-to-do in hopes of finding a husband of the same, would probably go there to look for one.

It's wealthy and nice, people are drawn to it for the same reasons they are drawn to any other wealthy seaside community. It's really not that difficult of a concept to grasp.

I agree with the OP, I meet all these girls who are like "OMG Coronado is sooo beautiful." LOL! I don't see what is so fascinating about it either.
