Looking for information. Does anyone know who the Walking Man is?

This man walks up and down Robbins St. in University City every morning, 7 days a week. He walks from the Robbins St. culdesac by the High School, to Gulfstrand and back again. He is allways in shorts and a blue baseball hat.

I would like to know this man's name if any of you folks know him.

Why not just introduce yourself to him and ask his name?

We've lived in UC for almost 40 years and we've seen The Walker for at least the last 25 years. He walks in Clairemont, too. It would seem rather forward to approach him and ask why...but one does wonder about him. I hope he has a home to go to at night, I think he does.

It would indeed seem strange to ask him "why" he is walking every day. A daily regimen of walking in a place like San Diego, even for many years, is hardly strange. I've walked daily since 1998. He's probably on a life-long plan to stay healthy, that's all. Good for him.

If we're all talking about the same guy - no, bless him, he's not walking for fitness. He walks seriously and fairly rapidly like he's actually going someplace but he's not going someplace. Although 24/7 walking has kept him slim, his skin is like leather from being out in it all day. The Walker we see never wears a hat, seldom a jacket. He is a University City character and many people who live here are mildly curious about his background and whatever psychological quirk compels him.

You sure it's safe to approach him?

I get a sense he's perfectly safe. I'd just never approach him because a) I really don't have a need to know and 2) it would be rude and may upset him.

It's his hobby. Some people play World of Warcraft all day, other people watch TV all day, and he walks all day.

But don't take my word for it, go ask him and report back here! =)
