Can't agree with you more. The problem does lie in "responsibility." Nobody should ever expect a hand out - I definitely have issue with entitlement seekers.

Nor do I think my taxes should pay for entitlements. In the old days, neighbors used to watch out for each other. If I didn't pay the taxes I pay, I would most likely give the same $$ amount to programs I truly believe in.

Hahaha, you are right on that one.

The problem is when one party talks about self reliance and financial reform.....the other party redirects the argument by saying those evil rich can pay more so we can have even more programs........LATE AFTER SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAMS ( school dinners for all students).

I think it should stay open. I am continuously seeing new people in this part of the forum and they can always throw in fresh input.

Personally, I've been in San Diego a month (an epic month thank you San Diegans). I am currently in Mission Valley but, will be moving soon. Where I am, I see many people walking around with their cardboard signs asking for help. I see them doing this with BOSE headphones, MP3 players, on their cell phones, and everything else that would point someone to believe these people aren't homeless. Is it sad? Yes. Does it suck? Yes. However, these people are living relatively decently. They have this lifestyle on lock.
They know where they can go to get food scraps, running water, and quite literally anything they want.
