We are thinking of renting an apartment around Torrance St and Keating St. Can anyone provide any input as to how this area is in terms of safety, proximity to public transit? Thanks in advance!

It just north of Washington Street, and directly east of I-5. It's a little cul-de-sac at the south end of Mission Hills. Some of the homes are old and historic, other parts of the area are apartments. It's a very steep area. If you have difficulty driving on hills, this area is not for you. There are a few interesting restaurants on India Street on the other side of Washington Street, but you will have difficulty driving there because of the one-way direction of the streets. You could walk to them, but be prepared for the hike back up the hill on the way home. There will be some noise from the traffic on Washington Street, and further afield you will get noise from I-5 and Lindbergh Field. It should be a safe area, as it's off the beaten track.

That's a great area. Not sure about public transit, but I used to live just south of there about 10 years ago. Close to everything, safe, convenient. Mission Hills is really cool.
