Alright. There is a bar called the tower on university ave. that I am thinking of going to tomorrow night. However I am fairly new to town and I thought that was the bad part of town down there, right in the middle of city heights.

Should I just not go or what? How bad is that area? Can you park your car and leave it for several hours at night, then walk to/from a place unmolested?

It's fine, just don't linger on the street too much. They have a parking lot, there is usually street parking right there. Tower is a fun bar. It is owned by the same guys that own the Casbah and Livewire. It's definitely a bad area. But it's San Diego and no area is really all that bad.

One of my concerns was that I'd have to park a mile away and walk to/from the bar. If they have available parking, that'll make the issue much easier.

I'm with Sass. There's a lot that goes on at night in the streets so try to stay away from that.Plus if you see the cops and your doing something crazy or out of the ordinary there is more of a chance they will question you there as compared to other parts of the City/County.Bottom line, try it out and bring 2 bags of common sense with you and you should be fine.

It's been years since I've been to Tower Bar and like Sass said, it's pretty cool. It used to be where the Rockabilly crowd hung out, but I don't know if they are still there. If you like Tower, you might also like Beauty Bar, which is in the same neighborhood.

Hey Sassberto, did you know that the owner's of Hamilton's have opened a new bar in University Heights called Small Bar? Suppose to have a big beer selection, as well. It's in the former space occupied by Bistro D'Asia. If I still have the energy, I may check it out tonight. Lovin' that U-Heights is trying to keep up with North Park and Normal Heights in the restaurant/bar department

Since you haven't responded since your post I am assuming that you got molested after leaving your car for several hours. At the very least you definitely got murdered.
