For a photo assignment, I'm taking pictures of modern architecture. Does anyone have any suggestions of what and where I can shoot? I've been living here for awhile now, but I feel like a tourist, not knowing San Diego all that well.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

The Pearl Hotel in Point Loma is very mid century modern.

For Modern, non-Ranch tract housing, try sections of Allied Gardens or Redwood Village.

For an apartment building, 3000 Sixth Avenue is a noteworthy piece of Cubist architecture.

The older parts of Mesa College are Brutalist.

Industrial Court in Sorrento Valley, it's a little cul de sac north of Sorrento Valley Roard, near where the road ends going west. At the end is an office building with cinderblock latticework going up the side. Actually, many Huffman Hovels are forms of Modern Architecture. Not good Modern architecture, but they are modern.

East Village also has tons of modern architecture, as does Little Italy, although much of it is similar. Most of it is multi-unit residential.

That actually invites a question of the OP. When he said "modern" did he mean "Modern" as in late 40s through early 70s, or did he mean "modern" as in recently built, as in the 90s and 00s. The two "moderns" don't mean the same thing.

I took it as modern, literally in the 1940-70's rather than Contemporary. It does invite the question though!

Thanks for all of the suggestions! By modern, I meant contemporary. Sorry I had not clarified that in the beginning!
