Hey!

We have been living in Lakeside for the past year and have absolutely hated it! My husband's cousin bought a 3BR home here and had difficulty affording the place so we moved in to help keep his head above water. He finally sold the place! So we're moving!

We used to live in Pacific Beach before moving out here to help my husband's cousin. We loved the area (obviously) but know it is out of reach for the size property we are looking to rent.

My husband works in Clairemont, so we are looking for something close. We have been commuting from Lakeside to Clairemont five days a week so we are used to long rides. Just hoping to maybe cut 15-20 minutes off our commute if possible!

We have a 3-year-old girl, a medium size dog and an indoor cat. We're looking for a 3BR house, townhome, or duplex of some sort. Something with a yard or small side yard for the dog. We can afford $1500.00/mo.

The problem is... I am from Boston! We moved here in 2007. So I don't know the areas well enough to know where the low crime neighborhoods are. I know crime and drugs are everywhere. But I am hoping to get my daughter into a decent area (better than Lakeside/El Cajon, for sure).

Humm
In the city there are Point Loma and Tierrasanta.Tierrasanta might be a little out of your price range but you never know. The same for Msn Vly,Grantville and San Carlos in the Northeast. All of those are right off the 8 Freeway east of the 15Freeway.Outside the city I like parts of La Mesa. Some of the mid-city areas like North Park I hear are good but I would never live there myself.

Hope you take my words in consideration.

I recommend Clairemont itself.

Why look further?

Clairemont is in a great location ... close to everything.

Try San Diego Craigslist under housing for rent, and put a max rent of $1500, and see what's available.

I agree, Clairemont. It's now mostly families or retired.
