There is a chance that I could be stationed in SD. I am looking for a more rural area. I am married and have a 16 Y daughter that will be a Jr. so I will also need a good school. I would be driving to the Naval Fleet training Center on the dry side. I don't mind being in the 25-30 mile range away, providing that the drive does not take hours. We live a quiet life, and just want to stay out of big cities if we can. Any help is much appreciated.

What's your rental (or buying) budget? There's Julian and Jamul, which are both very rural. If you provide more information, you'll get more help with answers?

Not even sure what rentals are going for. But I would be looking for a single family home with a garage. my guess would be the 1500-2000 per month range. We would be renting.

For "rural" in San Diego you could look at Julin or Jemul like the previous person stated, although it would be a long commute.

Julian and Jamul are both rural, but I think it would be a 40-50 mile drive one way. There's also Poway and Ramona which I think would be about a 20-30 mile drive one way.
