I ran a search and could only find information on gang activity from 2006 on this site. Could anyone tell me what it is like now? I know LA is very bad but the thread I found from 2006 said that San Diego was not. Is that still the case? Which areas should be avoided?

Gang activity is mostly present in southeastern neighborhoods (between highways 54 and 94) and to the north in urban neighborhoods along the 78. Most of the city is relatively safe.
