We are looking for a doctor of Internal medicine in Encinitas or further north in San Diego County. Preferrably one who is a clinical professor at UCSD.

Is this request for personal use or a recruiting ad?

Weird, seems like there is another advertisement thread for a store in El Cajon too.

My husband is ill with several conditions. We have so many specialists and no general internist to help guide us since our previous physician retired and we moved. I'm trying to get a recommendation before jumping in and throwing a dart. A friend at the National Institutes of Health suggested someone who is a clinical professor at UCSD would be highly qualified.

My husband is ill and we need a good internist to help manage the many specialists he now has. It is getting complicated. I can find lists of internists but I don't know anything about them and wonder if someone has had a positive experience.

UCSD is probably your best bet. General Internists are a dying breed, the best are working in hospitals or if they are of the academic bent, they are university affiliated. Best of luck to you.

JDM Grandma,

All specialists, were first generalists. If you push them, they should be able to help you understand the entire picture. That being said, there are some specialists who function as "super internists". If your husband has a Nephrologist or Oncologist, I would approach them. Regrettably, reimbursement is so low for primary care, that complicated patients get pushed off to the specialists and too often forgotten... I am sorry, it has been a concern of mine for some time.

Sincerely.
