Recently I've noticed when I'm going South on the 15 and passing MCAS Miramar on the West side of the freeway there is an area where hundreds of RVs are parked. Is this some sort of recreational park or a storage lot? I tried looking it up and couldn't find any information for it. It's funny, because I didn't notice it a couple of years ago.

It might be an RV sales lot. I don't think there are any RV parks in that area, I think the closest one would be Campland by the Bay in PB. RV parks don't normally have room for hundreds of RV's to park. An RV park would also grassy areas, picnic tables, and other amenities.

MCAS Miramar Vehicle Storage

Its RV storage for a fee to military personnel.

that's weird because I saw that link and the map location shows a spot on Miramar not adjacent to the 15, however the picture shows something that looks exactly like what I see when I'm on the 15. The weird thing is, I didn't realize that many Marines could afford $100k RVs because there sure are a lot of them parked there right now.

upper ranks make decent cash. and, for a lot of military families, having an RV makes a lot of sense. with all the moving, it's easier and more comfortable to set up shop in a new towm with a trailer while waiting for housing to open up (or if it's just a short tour). benig a Navy brat, we did this quite a bit when i was growing up.
