Hi Everyone,

My husband and I recently returned from San Diego on a house buying trip. Happy to say our offer was accepted and we will have a beautiful new home in Carlsbad!

We didn't have an opportunity to look at many preschools for our almost four year old daughter. I'm looking for an academic based preschool with half day sessions, two or three days a week. Does anyone know of a school they would recommend in the Carlsbad/Encinitas area? We looked at one and it was EXPENSIVE($500/month), especially compared to what we are paying here in Chicago.

You have a lot of options in La Costa and Encinitas. There are church preschools, Montessori programs, the YMCA, and lots of private pre-school programs. I've heard mixed things about Aspirations, the one in La Costa. Some good, some not so good. Probably worth checking out. For Catholic based, St. John's in Encinitas is highly regarded and offers the types of programs and times you are looking for.
