I'm considering a job in the Sports Arena area. What would are the recommendations for a nice place/area to live with a short commute time? Anything close to the beaches?

Point Loma
Particularly the area off of default 209 Rosecrans Street. Also parts of OB are ok.Maybe even Mission Hills

All are about a 10min commute to the arena it's self so that's good and anywhere from a 5-20min commute to DTWN San Diego(when there is no traffic of course)

How much are you willing to spend;what kind of job is it?

Default Beaches near Sports Arena

Ocean Beach is the closest beach to the Sports Arena area. It is a hippie-style beach town. The major downside is that it is in the flight path and the airplane noise is ridiculous.

Pacific Beach is an easy, no freeway 3-5 miles commute. Lots of bars and restaurants, many housing options. Beware of noisy neighbors. A one bedroom runs about $1200, 8 blocks from the water.

As JK said, Point Loma. I wouldn't recommend OB unless you are a glutton for punishment.
