My wife and I, are planning on relocating to San Diego from Newport Beach(don't worry, we aren't those types of people). We wanted to ask those familar with the area, what beach city is best for my wife and I. I will give you some characteristics about us, and hopefully someone can help us out.

1. We are both artists, and love to paint

2. We are both laid back people(Type B), and like things that move at a snails pace(if that's even possible anymore in So. Cal)

3. We love to surf

4. We like meeting people from all walks of life, ...NICE PEOPLE!!!!

5. We are very quiet and introspective people, with a "less is more" mentality

6. We would ideally like to live in North San Diego

7. Hobbies include surfing, painting, music, Yoga, helping out in various charitable causes, going to the movies, golfing, bowling, and just enjoying reading quietly and peacefully by the ocean

8. We are both pretty health conscious and active people

9. Money is no object

10. We are pretty moderate in our political beliefs

What San Diego beach city would be best for my wife and I? Thank you!

I know you said North County, but Ocean Beach would fit you perfectly. Good surf, lots of awesome vegetarian restaurants and they even have a co-op that has lots of local, healthy foods. They have a farmers market every week (I believe OB is Wed) and it's definitely an artistic kinda neighborhood.

What's your budget? Renting or buying? House, apartment or condo?

Encinitas. I would not recommend OB. OB is more like seal beach without a police force. Weekends in Encintas are great. You should drive down and exit the 5 freeway at Encintas blvd. Drive to coast hwy or the 101-same street different name. Go north on the 101 to La Costa. Make a U turn and drive back south on the 101 to Cardiff by the Sea, San Elijo state beach area, keep heading south to Solana Beach. Any further south and your in Del Mar. Just look between Solana Beach and Lucadia, or as I like to call it qualudia. Go Back north on the 101 to Encintas Blvd and drive inland to Camino Del Norte. That is it in a nutshell.

HA. My grandfather was a CEO and a Type A career driven man. His "pedal to the metal" mentality, we are only able to live this life, thanks to a very generous inheritance. I did go to Art Center in Pasadena, though. I was always taught though even a a young age that the doctor and the man who works at McDonalds behind the counter get the same level of respect. I never had a sense of entitlement attitude, and my dad would have whopped me upside the head. He always made me see how others lived, and how they struggled, to understand how much I have, and how much I am required to help others.
