I wonder why anyone would want to conceal their residence in such a way - in the absence of some nefarious criminal activity they wished to operate under the radar. In any case, I have no idea how or why a reputable company would be a party to this type of thing, but I am interested in finding out which companies if any participate in this and investigate them further.

Are you referring to private mailbox companies? If you're working in CA, you still need to register your car in CA. I think the only exemptions are students and military.

well im talking about for people who make money online, and have a Nevada LLC

In which case, say you make 200k for the year, a nevada residency saves you $20,000 in cali state taxes..

so what i mean is instead of getting a cali license, u'll get an address in nevada, get a license, get your car, and get your mail forwarded to ur apt in cali..

you work from home anyway so it doesnt make a difference..

Honestly, this has been a good year for me so far, california 10% tax will cost me at least $50k in state taxes this year, if not more

and i wont be here half the time..

this is the only thing stopping me from being so excited about the move..

It sounds like you want a PMB (private mailbox). I have one, but it's here in San Diego, and I use it as my primary address.

A PMB is an actual street address, and license has that address on it, and my vehicle is registered to that address. The only mail that I get in my home mailbox is anything related to unemployment and employment. Everything else goes to my PMB. It costs me $120 a year, but other places cost much more than that.

does your PMB forward your mail? why did you decide to get a PMB as opposed to home mailbox

so you live here, enjoy all the benefits of living in SD, use our facilities, roads and not pay state taxes, car registration, etc. And you imply you're collecting unemployment also? Sounds like you're breaking the law to me. Why should the rest of us have to pay taxes and not you!

what are you talking about? collecting unemployment? right now i dont even live here.. im just wondering the legalities.. read before you post...

and a lot of people incorporate in nevada for this reason... i just feel bad dropping say $70k in state taxes in California just for the sun and road maybe 150 days a year.. I travel at least half the month..

by the way nothing illegal about incorporating in say nevada, and having an apartment in both places, but paying no tax in nevada and none to cali
