Hey guys,

For a long time I was thinking about buying 1 bedroom apartment in San Diego which I would like to use for vacation and in the future for living ( I live in Europe) .

I have been in San Diego few times and absolutely loved it, but still not sure which location should I pick. I absolutely loved La Jolla area and the rest of northwest country but I also know that these areas are the most expensive ones. I know that prices are very low if we compare them with the old ones, so I also feel that it could be a good investment.

So what do you as a residents think about that? And which area shoud I pick. My budget is around 550k dollars and when I looked at condo.com I found out that, I should be able to pick something.

Thank you

Mike

I agree that now is a good time to buy. The Euro is strong in comparison to the dollar, interest rates are low, and property prices have come down. La Jolla, and North County coastal as general areas would make for a good, long-term investment. However, I doubt you will get very many specific recommendations until you become much more specific in what you want from your potential location, community, and building.

Different cities have different vibes, as do different neighborhoods. Are you willing to sacrifice apartment size for proximity to the beach or coast? Do you want a walkable neighborhood? Do you want a quiet area, or an area with hustle and bustle? These and many other factors would affect what areas people would recommend for you.

Thank you for your answer and I agree with you that I should´ve been more specific :-)

So, I would like to be relatively close to beach, where a lot of people hang out and party. I am 22, so especialy young people. I love and play soccer, so is there some local soccer team for example?

I definitely would like to live in walkable neighboorhod if possible. Because you know in Europe you can go everywhere without car, which I know is quite hard in San Diego, but still if there are some locations like this it would be excellent.

About hustle and bustle (lol) I like areas where is some action I mean when I walk outside from my door I want to see people not a ghost city( Mira Mesa for me)

Thanks for your hints

Mike
